Senior Business Systems Analyst

We have an exciting opportunity within our IT team in Vernon for a 24 month contract Senior Business Systems Analyst (SBSA). 

This position is responsible for supporting, optimizing, and enhancing enterprise systems that serve the organization's Finance, Human Resources, Learning & Development, and Commissary (Fresh Food Production) functions. Key platforms include Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Avanti (HRIS), TalentLMS (LMS), and Reciprofity and Nutracoster (Recipe & Nutrition Management systems).

The Senior Business Systems Analyst serves as a senior partner to business stakeholders, helping to align technology capabilities with operational objectives, identify opportunities for process improvement, and lead system-related initiatives. The role also acts as a Level 3 escalation point for complex application and business process issues.

Working closely with Finance, HR, Commissary Operations, and IT teams, the Senior Business Systems Analyst gathers and documents business requirements, supports solution design, leads testing and implementation efforts, and ensures business systems are effectively integrated into day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary systems analyst for:
  • Finance Systems: Support financial operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, reporting, procurement, and regulatory compliance.
  • Human Resources Information Systems: Support employee lifecycle management, payroll, benefits administration, workforce management, and related HR processes.
  • Learning Management Systems: Support employee training, certifications, compliance programs, onboarding, and development initiatives.
  • Recipe & Nutrition Management Systems: Support recipe maintenance, production planning, nutritional analysis, ingredient management, labeling requirements, and commissary operations.
• Act as a Level 3 escalation point for business systems issues, collaborating with IT teams and software vendors to investigate and resolve complex incidents.
• Analyze and document business requirements and translate them into functional and technical specifications.
• Lead or support system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and enhancement initiatives.
• Partner with Infrastructure, Data & Analytics, and vendor teams to maintain system performance, reliability, and data integrity.
• Conduct testing, validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), training, and change management activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes through better use of technology and automation.
• Develop business cases and recommendations for system enhancements and process improvements.
• Maintain system documentation, process maps, and knowledge resources.

• Strong understanding of Finance, HR, and operational business processes.

• Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong facilitation, requirements gathering, and workshop leadership capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders simultaneously.
• High level of business acumen, political awareness, and active listening skills.

• Experience supporting enterprise applications. Understanding of system integrations, data flows, and application support best practices.
• Experience gathering requirements, documenting business processes, and developing functional specifications.
• Familiarity with SQL, PowerShell, Python, Microsoft Power Platform, and reporting tools is considered an asset.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with project, documentation, and code management tools such as Jira, SharePoint, and Bitbucket.

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a Business Systems Analyst or Senior Business Systems Analyst role.
• Experience supporting Finance, Human Resources, Manufacturing, Commissary, Food Production, or Supply Chain business functions.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is considered a strong asset. While not required, candidates with Business Central experience will be given preference.
• CBAP, CCBA, PMP, or other Business Analysis and Project Management certifications are considered an asset.
